Abstract

Following the documentation and consolidation work at Djedkare's pyramid complex, the Djedkare Project mission has turned to fieldwork in previously unexplored areas of the South Saqqara necropolis. Several tombs of members of the royal family have been discovered and documented, shedding new light on Djedkare's family. The architecture of these tombs, together with the surviving remains of their decoration, greatly contribute to our understanding of how funerary concepts and practices changed during the late Fifth Dynasty.
