Going to the Dogs: The Catacombs of Anubis at North Saqqara
Abstract
Although the Dog Catacomb at Saqqara has been known for more than a century the plan of it has been shown to be inaccurate and was produced at such a small scale that no detail was discernable. This paper looks at new work which aims to re-examine the catacomb, make a new plan of it and to assess the faunal remains it contains. The results of the faunal examination suggest a scale of mummification not previously expected by the team.
