Religious Ritual at Abydos: revisiting the Temple of Seti I at Abydos
Saturday 10 February 2018
Venue Oakwood Centre
By Prof. Rosalie David
Rosalie David's research on this temple, started in the early 1970s, was initially published as Religious Ritual at Abydos, c. 1300 BC (Warminster, 1973). This lecture will consider how a completely revised edition, published by the Egypt Exploration Society in 2016, has provided new and exciting opportunities to update this study of how this unique temple was designed and functioned as a ritual unit.
Professor Rosalie David, OBE, FRSA. Rosalie David is Emerita Professor and Director of the KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology at The University of Manchester. She has published extensively and lectured widely on ancient Egyptian religion, and biomedical studies on Egyptian mummies.
